Looking for a sewing machine, but don’t want to spend an arm and a leg, but also don’t want something cheap. Any suggestions? (…looking at craigslist.org as we speak…or I speak…or type lol) There is one made by Singer, good brand? or no? Let me know what brands are good, and what to look for…
Depends on what you’re sewing. If it’s a lot of heavy-duty work, you’ll probably want a machine whose motor is made with metal parts, not plastic. And those cost $1,000 & up.
For light duty, occasional use, only on regular fabrics, Singer is a very good brand. But you’ll still pay $300 or more for them.
There are machines that cost little over $100, but you’ll probably have more frustrations with those.
I am looking for a sewing/embroidery machine that is preferably around $500.00 with at least 20 or more stitches, that is programmable with my own designs (through PC or card, etc.).
I have been looking at the Singer CE-150 recently, and it is retailing at about $504.00 – $599.99. If you have this machine, is it a good one? What are the pros and cons to this machine?
What other machines do you reccommend, or places do you suggest that I look? Thanks!
For the budget you are mentionning to get a sewing AND embroidery machine… that’s about the best deal you’ll get. If I’m not mistaken that machine has a bigger embroidery field then 4×4 which for the price is really rare.
As for recommending another machine… it’s tough because it depends on if you’d be willing to spend more or not. If you do not want to spend more at this time, then that machine for everything you are needing at this time is about your only option.
I’ve never used it myself but I have quite a few customers/group members who have that particular machine and I haven’t heard any complaints yet… so I tend to go with no news, good news cause if the machine wasn’t good… trust me, I would have heard… LOL
I do however own their XL6000 and I love it. Over the last few years I’ve owned quite a few different machines and that one is a favorite for sure.
Hope this helps a bit.
I just bought a Singer sewing machine (my first) and I am wanting to sew a straight stitch centered, however the needle (the needle is brand new and straight) is off center to the left about 1/8 of an inch. Can I fix this or do I need to return the machine?
Look in the manual and see if there is a needle-position adjustment feature. I believe the Prelude has 3 needle positions. If that’s not the problem, then I would call a small store that sells and repairs sewing machines and ask them about it… is it easy to fix, is it a sign of a badly made machine. If they say it’s common and would take a minute to fix, consider taking it in. They might do it for nothing if you buy a package of bobbins or some thread or other things you’re going to need anyway.
There is nothing wrong with returning it, except that it would be inconvenient for you. If you have to ship it for the return, make sure the company pays your shipping.
How (long would it take /) hard would it be for a classical singer to sing a different genre ?
(Assuming similar difficulty level)
What i wish to find out is if the classical singers are really that versatile / not .
since we have trained for a good long while to achieve the sounds we make ( we aren’t miked), it takes a while to re-think the vocal apparatus for pop singing. I happen to think that the major changes occur in the vocal tract, that is, inside the mouth and throat area. We classicals are always searching for ways to create more space inside there ( yes, there are definite physical limitations, but we are searching for the optimal levels) in order to find the areas of most resonance. This makes a mike unnecessary. Obviously, with a mike to do that work, it becomes easier.
How long it takes? Depends on how necessary it is?
Akon is the son of jazz percussionist Mor Thiam. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri but grew up in Senegal until he was seven. He split time between Senegal and the U.S. until he was fifteen, then his family permantently moved to Jersey City, New Jersey and as such he speaks English, French, and Wolof.
I have an old Singer right now. A little tempermental with the tension, but too slow and it doesn’t sew knits. I do mostly doll and baby/children’s clothes, but I’m limited in that I don’t have a stretch stitch. That’s what the serger would be for. Unless there’s a reliable "normal" machine that also does knits. I also quilt, so I need a machine that will do regular sewing. A store will try to sell me what is good for them to sell me, and celebrity endorsements are related to what they’re paid to sell also, so I thought I’d try people who actually use the machines. Can anyone help?
Uhh. I have a new Signer and I sew purses. It works fine. It was about $150. It works! However, don’t try to lower the feed dogs because they won’t come back up! I have exchaged the sewing machine 3 times for the same problem!
can anybody who is singer of this ghazal : tu jo nahi hai tu kuch bhi nahi , yeh maana ke mehfil jawan hai haseen hai ? where i can find this on net ..is its album availabe in market ?
Hey i can`t understand this question.
I recently bought a singer sewing machine model #3314 C. But it didn’t come with a manual. I tried sewing with it with the thread that was already threaded and it worked great, so I changed the thread because I needed another color, but I can’t get it to work. I think I am threading it wrong. Can you please either find me the manual for this machine (or for a similar machine) or just tell me how to thread it.
Thanks,
all answers are appreciated
Here is the Singer website link, where you can find your owner’s manuals, instructions, etc… I know they have threading diagrams for their machines too. If you have trouble finding what you need, use their customer service contact.
