I got a 306K Singer Sewing Machine for $10 at an auction.
How so you put thread in a 306K Singer Sewing Machine?
And how much is the machine worth?
You can search the web–sooner or later you will stumble across a site that will show you how to thread it. Or email me directly and I will walk you through it (mnm55@yahoo.com)
from what I have read on this machine, they are quite rare and in heavy demand. You got one heck of a deal.
Whenever I am trying to price vintage items, I check ebay and see what they are going for there.
how do you get the stitching on an old singer domestic sewing machine to go in a straight line instead of in a zig-zag?
You don’t say which one, but on mine the lever that controls the stitch length also controls the zig zag
does anyone know if u can buy them at specialty stores or only if you can buy them directly from singer???
thanks
At my local sewing machine dealer, they sell basic generic bobbins for all brands of sewing machines, including Singer, so I know bobbins are available. If there is a sewing machine repair shop, you may find your bobbins there as well.
If you know the model number of your sewing machine and the type of bobbin it uses, you may be able to find generic brand bobbins at local fabric stores or craft stores. You can read the packaging to determine if the bobbin fits your machine or not.
In short, the answer is yes, you can purchase Singer bobbins from non-Singer stores.
I just acquired a sewing cabinet with a Kenmore 1947 sewing machine , but I want my singer on it. Does anyone here have any suggestions on how I can do that? Or anyone have any information on this 1947 kenmore.
TIA
Does the Singer have mounting holes for hinges? If not, you’re going to have to put in a shelf or lift for the machine.
In any case, you’ve got a woodworking project there, as the cabinets were designed for particular makers’ machines.
I am looking to buy my 2nd machine however I will be spending between $400-$700 for a computerized model. I had a very cheap one that was so hard to use that it was easier to hand sew so I want something that will last me at least 15 years , easy to use and many features
I prefer Brother. I have both a regular sewing machine and a serger. I’ve had them for 2 years and haven’t had any problems. Good luck.
I am considering selling a 1930’s singer treadle sewing machine, which would need quite a little tlc: some removable parts are missing and the cabinet could be doing with a sanding, but except that, it is in good condition and may be of interest to someone who likes restoring things – how much would you pay? £75?
I think that is a little high if the machine is missing some parts. I mean, it’s already old. I know that Singer is a good brand and all, but… I would lower it a little. If people think it’s too high they won’t even bother taking a look at it.

I just brought a band new commercial grade Singer sewing machine and the thread (threaded properly_ keeps breaking and all I’m doing is a small straight stitch on a plaid cotton fabric.)
Please help.
On most sewing machines the needle has a flat side that goes to the right, and you thread this needle from left to right. If your "commercial grade" Singer takes a round shank needle (no flat spot) then check that the cut-out portion just above the eye (called the scarf) faces to the right. If this doesn’t solve your problem, send additional information and I will try to help you.
I want to make a baby stitch in my singer sewing machine, do i need another footer to be able make a baby stitches in my sewing machine?
What kind of footer can i used to make a baby stitch?
Please tell us or show us what a "baby stitch" is — I’ve not heard of it in 50 years of sewing.
If you’re asking about how to make shorter stitches, that’s controlled by the stitch length regulator. Depending on the machine, it may be a lever, a knob, or digital control. And you don’t need a special foot to make short stitches.
Some cheap sewing machines have no way of changing stitch length.
